10 Video Game Fan Theories That Became Fact

8. Rocket League - Egg People

Rocket League was a global phenomenon at release, with an instantly loyal and fanatic fan base. What was strange, however, was that fans not only obsessed about the cars, the physics, or the gameplay, but the ever present egg shaped figures that sat in the arena.

While many dismissed it as a low resolution way to fill the stadium, others were convinced that they were actually egg people (yes, really).

The developers seemed to confirm this theory in the form of a new map called 'farmstead', as part of a DLC package. This map had a few, ahem, Easter eggs, that seemed to prove this theory. A billboard shown outside the arena portrayed a band called 'Mitchell and the Gang' who were clearly eggs, with faces, playing musical instruments.

This hinted at wider implications, that the entire universe in which the game was set was populated by egg people. These same cylindrical shapes were shown in the cars, which meant egg people were driving the cars.

What made this so ingenious is that the developers took a fairly speculative theory, and decided to make a massive, egg based extended universe out of it.
