10 Video Game Film Adaptations In Production Right Now
5. InFamous
Rumours have flown around websites for years regarding the nature of InFamous' apparent film adaptation. In 2009, Sony announced that Sheldon Turner had signed to write the script for the film; much like Uncharted, Avi Arad was also lined up as the producer of the adaptation. Screenwriter Turner had stated: "What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," Turner said. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is." Since then, however, any news regarding the production status of InFamous has been silent. Rumours indicating that any plans for the film had been cancelled were countered with InFamous' developer, Sucker Punch's, co-founder Brian Fleming's rather ambiguous response to an interview: "Actually, it's hard to know what is happening with this film... God only knows what is happening. I really don't know, sorry!" From this we can surmise that there is indeed a concept regarding a film adaptation of the Playstation exclusive game, although there is certainly nothing negotiated yet. Despite there having been an IMDb page set up, complete with a previously stated (now removed) release date within late 2013 - which failed to materialise - any official announcements that indicate further development are yet to be made.
