The Hitman games shine most brightly when giving players the freedom to choose how they intend to kill their target. Even better, the games allow for you to make plans that can (and often do) go awry. When a hit doesn't play out as expected, skilled players can adapt to their new circumstances.

What started out as a well-planned, multi-step process may devolve into a chaotic firefight within minutes, but success is still within your grasp if you can keep a level head and determine the next best course of action.

A great Netflix series based on the Hitman video games would capture Agent 47's versatile skillset in ways the two film adaptations could not. Agent 47 can pull off elaborate hits involving multiple disguises, stealth, the slow and deliberate tailing of his targets, or simply a great deal of firepower and endurance. He can kill his victims through fake accidents, poison, long-range sniping, close-quarters combat, and more.

Throughout the course of the globe-trotting Hitman franchise, Agent 47 does all of this and more in numerous varied locations, each with its own aesthetic tone and unique set of obstacles for the player to overcome.

The Hitman movies captured the essence of the games to some extent, but the limitations of the medium undoubtedly held them back. A Netflix series, dedicating each episode to a single hit while slowly unfolding a larger, overarching storyline, may succeed where the movies fell short.
