10 Video Game Hallucinations That Melted Your Mind
2. Vaas' Death - Far Cry 3
There are several gleefully mind-bending trip sequences in Far Cry 3, not least a terrific mission where protagonist Jason gets the contact high to end all contact highs after torching a huge weed crop with a flamethrower.
But far trippier even than this is the game's boss fight - if we can even call it that - against the ludicrously entertaining antagonist Vaas.
After Jason appears to be stabbed in the stomach by Vaas, he enters a dreamlike state where he witnesses several surreal visions involving himself, Vaas, and Vaas' sister Citra.
The player ultimately has to shoot dozens of visages of Vaas before finally reaching the man himself and plunging a blade into his heart, killing him for good.
Though it's undeniably disappointing that Vaas dies barely two-thirds of the way through Far Cry 3, the mind-blowing atmosphere of this eerie, neon-soaked sequence nevertheless makes it one of the series' high-points.
