10 Video Game Heroes Way Worse Than The Villain
6. BioShock Infinite - Booker DeWitt
Let’s try not to think too much about BioShock Infinite’s story as a whole or we’re going to get dizzy spells really quickly. Tears into alternate universes, parallel timelines, the Lutece Twins, it’s been seven years and I’m still confused. What is understandable, though, is the comparison between Zachary Comstock and Booker DeWitt
Comstock, the oppressive, racist creator and ruler of Columbia, held himself over the floating city, brainwashing the people with his preaching. He claimed to be a prophet, secretly justified by that of travel through different universes. He, like Booker, took part in the massacre at Wounded Knee, killing innocents, a classic protagonist trope. Through a tear to a different timeline, Comstock then bargained for DeWitt’s daughter, preying on his vulnerability after turning to alcohol and gambling.
DeWitt came to Columbia to rectify his past and... kidnap his daughter back. However, as he got deeper into the city, killing through different timelines and messing up the city, he finally met Comstock. It's then revealed that Comstock and DeWitt are the same people, one who found religion and who found addiction.
How can Booker DeWitt be any better than Zachary Comstock if they’re the same person?
