Cursed items are a common occurrence within games, particularly in RPGs. Typically, these items are powerful artefacts that come at the cost of a negative effect to stop them from becoming too overpowered.

Some cursed items like Subcalibre's Soul Edge or the Kitetsu from Ninja Gaiden are mighty additions to any player's arsenal despite the substantial downside of wielding them. The same cannot be said about the Wasteband from classic JRPG Dragon Quest.

Also known as The Devil Belt or Cursed Belt, this accursed accessory is found in one of the chests located in the Dragonlord's Castle. If finding this belt in amongst the possessions of the game's main antagonist isn't enough of a deterrent to equip it, players who do decide to wear this belt will realise that they've made a grave mistake.

Not only will the belt stop the hero from moving temporarily, but they'll also be forbidden by the King from entering his castle. This isn't ideal as you'll need to go there to finish the game.

The only way to unequip this item (the same goes for the Cursed Necklace found in the game) is to talk to a specific character in the town near the castle.
