10 Video Game Mentors Who Were Actually Complete Morons

10. Doc Louis - Punch Out!!

One of the most frustrating games of all time, purpose-built to retain Mike Tyson's fist-first domination of the sport, painting him as one of the most gratuitously unfair final bosses of all time in the process - all because his real world counterpart was fast-becoming one of the most well-known fighters of all time. Your Rocky was the unassuming Little Mac, partnering with your own Paulie in Doc Louis, a very passionate ex-heavyweight-turned-coach who was ready to help you rise up through the ranks, one broken jaw at a time. Hang on a minute, though... He's an ex-heavyweight boxer, but the clearly labelled Little Mac is being put up against all sorts of fighters that most definitely aren't in his weight bracket. Then he wonders why we keep getting our amateurish athletically-toned backsides handed to us. Well, it's probably because we're quite literally punching above our weight, Louis, probably that. The reworked version of Punch Out for the Wii saw Mr. Mac get a much-needed physique boost to at least look as though he could contend with the big boys, but for that original game and the showdown against Tyson especially? He was like The Mountain to your Tyrion Lannister.
