10 Video Game Missed Opportunities We're STILL Not Over

1. Leaving The Chrono Trigger IP To Die

Chrono Trigger
Square Enix

This an absolute travesty. Why do we live in a world where Final Fantasy has had so many games you can barely keep up, but Chrono Trigger has been left to die?

If you've played the original Chrono on SNES, you know why this is such a travesty. One of the finest JRPGs ever created, it features time-travel, multiple branching storylines, great characters and a real-time-ish battle system.

For its time, it's an incredibly innovative game, full of twists and turns and memorable moments.

Since then, other than Chrono Cross on the PS1 which wasn't as well-received, this IP has had absolutely nothing done with it.

This is such a shame. Imagine what Square Enix could do nowadays with a fully 3D rendered Chrono sequel starring the original cast. Hell, we'll even take a 2D version given how well things such as Octopath Traveller turned out.

Chrono deserves better than just to be a fondly remembered experience from our past. With the right backing and effort, this could easily be a series to rival Final Fantasy as one of the RPG greats and despite a misstep with Chrono Cross, we have faith that Squeenix can turn this around.
