10 Video Game “Mistakes” That Were Totally Intentional

6. Mr Saturn - Mother 3

In the classic RPG Mother 3, released for the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, one of the game's Mr Saturn characters says that he's leaving and walks off the screen. This happens all the time in RPGs, right? Nothing strange here.

Well, amusingly, a little bug meant that the Mr Saturn left the screen but could be spotted if you just moved up slightly. He'd claimed to be "leaving" just moments earlier, but has really only moved a few feet away from you.

This bug was noticed during development but the team decided to leave it in as they thought it was funny. Shigesato Itoi, who wrote the game, was amused by the idea of a character simply walking off the screen and then just standing around. We see characters constantly wandering off and then suddenly disappearing if you try to chase after them in countless games, so the thought of actually being able to catch up with one gave Mother 3 players a good laugh.
