10 Video Game Mods That Restored Essential Features
1. Fallout New Vegas - The Jsawyer Mod
You can probably tell from this list that games from Bethesda studios are no stranger to mods. This New Vegas mod stands out among the other Bethesda modifications because it was not done by a dissatisfied or inspired fan - one of the game's original developers built this one.
While New Vegas is often praised for its philosophical depth compared to other recent entries in the series, lead developer Josh Sawyer was not totally happy with the end product. His general attitude to content restoration mods for New Vegas is "I don't really think there's anything special about the cut content", but after development had wrapped, he wanted to rebalance the difficulty.
The game's predecessor, Fallout 3, has a notably low difficulty level. New Vegas' vanilla release built on that, and the jsawyer mod is one that overhauls the game's challenge. In this mod, lead designer Josh Sawyer rebalances health, damage, exhaustion and other similar components. You can consider this a director's cut of sorts - it is a fascinating move for a developer to join the diverse and passionate modding world.
