10 Video Game Movie Scenes That Actually NAILED IT

6. Scorpion Vs. Johnny Cage - Mortal Kombat (1995)

Paul W.S. Anderson's 1995 Mortal Kombat movie may be goofy as hell and unavoidably constrained by its PG-13 content rating, but it's still the first major video game movie to really get the material, and actually deliver a stylistically faithful interpretation of it.

It's so full of entertainingly ridiculous sequences, but the high-point is surely the dynamic, visually creative battle between Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby) and Scorpion (Chris Casamassa).

The fight begins in a vast wooded area as Scorpion attempts in vain to kill Johnny with his spear.

As Johnny goes on the offensive, the fight shifts inexplicably to another realm entirely, as the pair battle one another on a series of rickety wooden platforms.

Look, the CGI may have aged like milk and things gets pretty silly near the end, but the production design is freaking timeless, and overall it's one of the most visually impressive fight scenes you'll find in any video game movie.
