10 Video Game Post-Credits Scenes You Need To See
2. Metroid
One of the oldest post-credit scenes in video games is also one of the most famous. If you were able to finish Metroid in between five and three hours, you would be rewarded with a small cut scene that shows Samus removing her helmet, revealing herself to be a woman.
Up until this point there was no suggestion that the armoured hero you were playing was female, with the game manual even referring to Samus as "he".
Take it another step further and finish the game in under an hour and you will be rewarded with Samus removing the suit entirely to reveal herself in nothing but a bikini. If you're into 16-bit girls then this is the post-credit scene for you. While it may not seem like a big deal now, Samus actually being revealed as a woman was huge back in the day, as many video game mascots were male.
Samus has gone on to be a huge Nintendo icon, even featuring in every version of Super Smash Bros. It just goes to show that video games have been using the post-credit technique much longer than the movies.
