10 Video Game Pranks You Wish Were True
2. Half-Life 3
The Half-Life series is one that has never seen its popularity drop and while the VR-based Alyx game is confirmed, people have been waiting for the third main entry for more years than they can count.
Valve is no stranger when it comes to making a joke, with co-founder Gabe Newell frequently posting cryptic teases. Though, back in 2012 there was one slight moment where Half-Life 3 was nearly real. A page appeared on Steam seemingly confirming the title was in development but this later turned out to be a fake April Fool's jokes, posing as a real April Fool's joke.
This led to a meltdown of epic proportions as fans believed it was Valve that dropped the teaser. Luckily, it didn't take long before the truth emerged.
Despite the begrudged masses who are still bitterly annoyed at the Half-Life 3 jokes, Newell still cracks jokes to wind them up.
In 2018, he appeared in a skit during a Dota tournament and purposefully discussed a triple kill by saying "you've killed more than two people, but less than four" all the while avoiding the dreaded number three.
