10 Video Game Protagonists Who Were Way Too Satisfying To Kill
4. Yourself - Unreal Tournament
As innovative as all of the later entries have been, there's still no beating 1999's Unreal Tournament, a ludicrously entertaining online shooter with a marvellous selection of maps and weapons. Blowing your foes to bits has rarely been as fun, though there's one weapon in the game that takes the cake, and that's the Redeemer. For those unaware, the Redeemer is the most powerful weapon in the game, a portable nuclear warhead launcher which holds only one or two missiles (depending on the game), and due to the ridiculous blast radius it produces, is also recommended only for distance targets. That said, it's not always practical to fire from afar, and there's something wonderfully satisfying about pointing the Redeemer at the ground and letting rip, especially if a number of the opposite team are nearby: watch as you and your enemies are reduced to chunky gibs and your score racks up nicely. The "nuclear option" in the truest sense of the word, suicide in a video game has rarely been as fun, and probably never as destructive.
