10 Video Game Protagonists We Hated

3. Ajay Ghale - Far Cry 4

Back to a character who actually has a personality - just not a great one - is Far Cry 4 protagonist Ajay Ghale. Perhaps the biggest problem with him becomes apparent when we compare him to other Far Cry protagonists. In Far Cry 3 you’re trying to get your friends back, in Far Cry 5 you’re trying to help your colleagues and the locals stop a family of cult leaders and their rabid followers.

Then we have Far Cry 4, where your mother dies, you go to spread her ashes, avoid having a conversation with the guy in charge, and join a civil war that either kicks off a drug trade or recruits child soldiers.

Basically everything has devolved into a nasty conflict with no real winners no matter how you spin it and there is absolutely no reason why the dummy Ajay should be involved at all being that he’s just a dude with no knowledge of the situation acting as an agent for the game’s rebel leaders without ever second-guessing them. At the end, you can’t even take charge - you just end up falling victim to one of whatever crap ending you chose.

Unless of course you just sat your butt down and talked to Pagan at the start of the game - in which case well done you.
