7. Odin's Ultimate Trick - God Of War Ragnarok

Although he’s not as visually monstrous or physically imposing as, well, any of the preceding God of War enemies, Norse All-Father Odin is captivatingly wicked due to his disarming charm and manipulative genius.

Aside from trying to fool Atreus into being disloyal to Kratos – as well as abusing his family and the citizens of Asgard – one of the worst things Odin’s ever done is imprison sympathetic Aesir deity Týr for adopting a peaceful mindset and no longer wanting to wreak havoc on people.

That’s why it’s so rewarding and endearing to finally rescue Týr and then spend dozens of hours with him in God of War Ragnarok. In addition to offering invaluable advice, he bonds with Kratos, Atreus, and the rest of the team.

Yet, it was all a trick.

Upon accidentally calling Atreus “Loki” (and sparking the suspicion of dwarven blacksmith Brok), Týr transforms into Odin, stabs Brok, and holds Atreus hostage until he’s given the Mask of Creation. It's an exceptionally clever and disconcerting ploy that demonstrates how Odin’s always been one (or two or three) steps ahead of Kratos and company.

Fortunately, the real Týr can still be saved during the post-game, too.
