10 Video Game Rewards Not Worth Unlocking
4. The Secret Credits - Gex
1995's Gex was a perfectly serviceable side-scrolling platformer with a cheeky sense of humour. It wasn't particularly challenging - you just had to time your jumps to land on moving platforms while using your gecko powers to stick to climbable walls, that sort of thing - and so, a lot of players likely went for 100% completion, considering that it was an attainable feat even for platforming novices.
In order to fully complete the game you'd need to unlock Planet X, and complete its eight accompanying levels. Get that done, and you'll unlock a "secret ending", which literally just amounts to the developers insulting you for a good couple of minutes.
Instead of the proper credits rolling, a load of text will scroll by that starts off by saying "you're the greatest!" but soon enough, this positive tone turns more negative, leading to jabs like "you're either a rocking stud, dominating and conquering all... or a broken loser, forever lost in the smelly cesspool of obscure mediocrity."
We're not joking.
The credits continue, informing you that "you could have seen the sun for once!" and by the time they're finished, you'll be feeling pretty damn foolish at having spent all that time completing the game, only to be "rewarded" with a bunch of insults.
