10 Video Game Secret Endings That Weren't Worth It
3. John's Goodbye - Red Dead Redemption 2
Unlike some other entries on this list, the secret ending in Red Dead Redemption 2 is by no means terrible. It serves as a nice sendoff for those who fully complete the game; however, trying to get 100% completion just for the ending itself is certainly not worth it.
Fully completing Red Dead Redemption 2 requires finishing all of the missions in the game, filling up your compendium, gathering all of the collectibles, and, in essence, doing everything there is to do under the Midwestern sun. The number of tasks on the to-do list is so large, in fact, that you could easily finish the main story three times while completing it. What you get in return is a one-minute cutscene.
Now, to be fair, the cutscene makes for a rather touching moment. It's a scene where John visits Arthur's grave and gives him one last goodbye by telling him they're "just about done" with their business.
If you reached this moment by simply enjoying your time exploring the Wild West, the scene feels pretty sweet and rewarding. However, if you went through the struggle of beating the game expecting some kind of specific reward, then it will probably leave you fairly disappointed.
