10 Video Game Secrets Devs DIDN'T Want You To Find

1. Jesus vs. Santa - Tiger Woods PGA Tour 99

Man, I miss physical media.

I know that, for sheer environmental cost alone, the days of plastic boxes and bulky manuals had to go. But that doesn't mean I can't mourn them. CDs, in particular, were real treasure troves for Easter egg hunters. For example, if you stuck the Half-Life CD in your CD player it would play the game's soundtrack.

And if you stuck your PlayStation copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 99 in your computer's CD drive, you got to see something pretty special.

Inexplicably, someone at EA decided to smuggle Trey Parker & Matt Stone's "The Spirit of Christmas" in every copy of the game's initial release. The short predates South Park, but is animated in that signature low-budget style, echoin the show's irreverent attitude through its centrepiece fight between Jesus Christ and Santa Claus.

Naturally, word soon got out and EA recalled around 100,000 copies of the game to deal with the offending material.

Which just goes to show - if you've got any old video game CDs or DVDs lying around, have a quick rummage through their files. Maybe you'll be the next person to make a discovery that goes down in gaming folklore!
