10 Video Game Sequels That Made You Play The Original Again

1. Alan Wake II

The recently released Alan Wake II represents one of the most impressive sequel glow-ups of the last decade, for as ambitious and intriguing as the original was, its somewhat repetitive gameplay never quite matched the level of its storytelling.

Alan Wake II meanwhile represents a glorious fusion of narrative and gameplay, seamlessly blurring the line between the two and in turn delivering one of the most boundary-pushing gaming experiences in years.

And while Remedy stressed that players could dive straight into the sequel, it doubtless sent many back to the original - or the remastered version of it, at least - which while certainly a lesser game than its successor, has aged relatively well for a game that originated in the halcyon days of 2010.

Given that Alan Wake never quite made it big with the gaming mainstream upon original release, it's neat to see many gravitating towards it in light of the sequel's release.
