10 Video Game Side Characters That Got Their Own (Better) Spin-Off

8. Zero - Mega Man Zero

final fantasy crisis core
Capcom

The mysterious Zero has captured the hearts of Mega Man's fanbase ever since his debut appearance in Mega Man X. It's easy to see why, as his design just screams the embodiment of cool for any kid growing up in the 90s.

The massive wave of appreciation for Zero's character led to Capcom releasing an entire series based around him. And when compared to the later iterations of Mega Man games, Mega Man Zero pretty much squashes its predecessor.

The Zero games are hailed within the Mega Man community for their higher difficulty level as well as their ability to capture the feel of the early versions of Mega Man. The spinoff series also features a whole new storyline expanding on the world of the games as well as Zero himself, making him a much more complex character than the mostly silent protagonist of the originals.

Overall, between an aloof protector of humanity with a badass ponytail and a goofy child robot created by a somewhat incompetent inventor, it's pretty obvious which character would have a better game.
