10 Video Game Signs You HAD To Ignore
2. "Don't You Dare!" - Dark Souls II (2014)
Yes, it's yet another example of we gamers doing the total opposite of what we're told. And this particular one doesn't have much of a payoff either, so all you're doing is breaking the rules for the sake of it. Don't come crying to me when your curiosity ends up killing you.
Aldia's Keep is a literal house of horrors, containing mashed-up beasts and bizarre acolytes that make for an experience not unlike a uniquely deadly museum tour. On the ground floor of the keep, you'll find Royal Sorcerer Navlaan, a dangerously insane man locked up behind a wall of magic.
Navlaan doesn't mince his words, telling you he's killed many people and he'll kill even more when he gets out. Any sane person would naturally leave him in there to rot.
But elsewhere in the keep are a number of sconces with the message, "Don't you dare!" in front of them. Obviously, you then must dare, and lighting each of these sconces summons a black phantom of Navlaan that, for an NPC, is quite ridiculously hard to kill.
If you want to go even further, you can even set Navlaan himself free by pulling a lever in a corridor that has "Pull back" written on the floor literally dozens of times. So, when he gets out and kills you and/or all your friends in Majula, don't say you weren't warned.
