10 Video Game Spin-Offs That Insulted The Fans
6. Uncharted: Fight For Fortune
When the trilogy of Nathan Drake’s Uncharted adventures wrapped up, Naughty Dog were already hard at work on a couple of additional titles for the PlayStation Vita to keep the franchise alive. One of these was Uncharted: Fight for Fortune , a harmless but ultimately shallow foray into a surprisingly different genre.
Considering the series started off as an ode to action movies, seeing Uncharted find its way into a card-battler is just confusing. From the heights of clambering across a moving train, firing machine guns at enemies whilst Drake yells charismatic zingers to… collecting cards of his friends, enemies and the Doughnut Drake unlockable skin. It’s certainly a change of pace...
A collectible card game was a unique proposition and not your average suggestion for a spin-off but not only does it feel a little bit like a misstep for the franchise’s mission statement, it also lets down the system it’s on. The game only came to NTSC and PAL regions and did so at the exact same time as the other PS Vita spin-off for the series, Golden Abyss - you know, the one that actually functions like you’d expect an Uncharted game to.
Instead of having two great Uncharted side games, the PS Vita got one... and a very forgettable card game.
