10 Video Game Things They KEEP GETTING WRONG

3. Pre-Orders And Exclusive Content

It's nice to be excited about a game coming out, it really is.

But what in the name of Hades is preordering all about? It's such a completely unnecessary thing to do for the vast majority of games. There's always plenty to go around come launch day, but the industry has become increasingly obsessed with trying to make us preorder their games.

Nine times out of ten, the preorder will offer some kind of exclusive bonus for doing so. It might be a couple of skins for the game, it might be a weapon that gives you an advantage, or it might even be a ridiculous OTT statuette of a game character.

Sometimes, preorders even include first access to upcoming content for the game! So if you didn't bother getting it at launch, you're out of luck until they deem you worthy to enter.

The whole thing is just something that doesn't need to exist. It's a way for gaming publishers to gauge interest in their games and force a few more sales through the door, and we've just come to accept it as part of the industry.
