10 Video Game Twists In Front Of You The Whole Time

6. The True Mastermind - Persona 4

Persona 4, being a mystery, is obsessed with pulling the rug out from under you until you've tied up literally every single last loose end in the story. And there are so many of these loose threads that it can be really easy to forget one or two of them. And the game is betting on that.

For instance, after you've exposed and then defeated the serial killer Tohru Adachi, you'd be forgiven for thinking it's finally over, especially since the only real clue of your final challenge comes to you at the literal beginning of the game, along with the occasional mythology lecture.

But if you had been paying attention, you'd probably notice that - at no point - does the game ever explain WHERE you, Adachi, and Namatame got the power to enter the TV world to begin with. And then your mind might travel back to one of the first people you talked to in this game, the gas station attendant, and how weird they acted, and how when they shook your hand, YOU felt a little woozy.

And then boom, you got it all figured out. That gas station attendant was the Japanese creator deity Izanami, who has been using this whole thing as a character test for the human race.
