3. Everything In Whimsyshire - Diablo III

Back when Blizzard first revealed Diablo III gameplay, many fans kicked up a fuss that the game's aesthetic seemed brighter and more colourful than in the series' prior entries.

With many players suspecting that Blizzard had lightened the game's tone in order to appeal to a broader audience, the developer couldn't resist but cook up a hidden level which brought players' most horrifying fears to life.

The level in question was Whimsyshire, a more candy-coloured, upbeat riff on Diablo II's much-loved Secret Cow Level, which included among its enemies unicorns, teddy bears, and pink flowers - basically everything Diablo fans would hate to see in the game proper.

As a self-contained level, it made spirited fun of overly tetchy players who wasted way too much of their precious free time getting bent out of shape about the game's ultimately pretty great aesthetic.
