First encountered as the boss of the original Resident Evil, the original Tyrant was, as most things are, easily felled by a direct blast from a rocket launcher. The Tyrant 2.0 (AKA Mr. X) encountered in the sequel, however, was made of much tougher stuff.

Mr. X was a super-weapon created by the Umbrella Corporation for two specific purposes: retrieve the G-Virus and kill all witnesses to Umbrella's most recent zombie-related disaster. To that end, he had no need to talk. Unlike Nemesis in Resident Evil 3, who would groan the word, "Stars" during its hunt for the S.T.A.R.S team, Mr. X. was never heard to similarly moan, "G-Virus sample and elimination of all witnesses" in a Frankenstein voice.

Mr. X would silently pursue the player, showing up at the worst possible times to chase you through the game's claustrophobic corridors. Though slow and Jason-like in his stride, Mr. X always found a way to end up right in your path. He could be taken out of commission for a little while with enough firepower, but eventually, his wounds would heal and he'd get right back in your face.

That is, until he was severely weakened by molten metal. The damage caused Mr. X to mutate, increasing his power but exposing his weak insides. Then, and only then, could Leon Kennedy put an end to its pursuit with a rocket to the face, which, as we know, is kryptonite to Tyrants.
