10 Video Game Villains That Switched Sides In The Sequel

6. Sagat - Street Fighter Alpha 3

Sagat is one of the most iconic and recognisable characters in the Street Fighter series.

He made his debut in the original game, serving as the epic final boss, and returned in Street Fighter II as one of the game's climactic bosses, now bearing a large scar across his chest as a result of his defeat in the first game.

This was then retconned seven years later in Street Fighter Alpha 3, which while technically a prequel, rewrote Sagat's relationship with Ryu for the remainder of the series.

Alpha 3 saw Sagat leave M. Bison's shady outfit Shadaloo after realising that his feud with Ryu was a futile waste of time.

By the time Street Fighter IV rolled around, Sagat even considered Ryu a "friend," and has pretty much been on the straight and narrow ever since.
