10 Video Game Villains Who Actually Killed The Hero

8. The Wendigos (Until Dawn)

Rather than restricting you to a single character, Until Dawn has you controlling multiple protagonists, with its story jumping back and forth between their different, yet equally-terrifying experiences atop Blackwood Mountain.

And because of this approach - combined with the fact that your decisions can lead to different narrative outcomes - it's actually possible for every single hero to be dead by the end of the game.

And the villains responsible for most of that bloodshed are the Wendigos, pale and disfigured creatures who love to consume human flesh. Depending on how you play, you could be treated to one of many scenes of Wendigos killing the heroes, from Sam getting impaled through the stomach with a Wendigo's spindly arm, to one of them pulling off Chris' head - a particularly gruesome scene.

The Wendigos are pretty frightening because they can't be reasoned with or controlled (and they're bloody hard to kill to boot), making them an appropriately nightmarish villain for Until Dawn's take on a teen slasher story.

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
