10 Video Game World Records That Will Never Be Broken

6. Super Smash Brothers - Tournament Streak

Most people would describe Nintendo’s all star brawler as a party fighter and there’s plenty of fun to be had in its abject mania but a lot of people also take it seriously. Professional level Smash Brothers play has a long and winding history.

Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios very quickly became the master of the Wii U instalment of the game in the first 12 months of its release and went on a hot streak that captivated the Smash Bros community. How does 56 consecutive tournament victories strike you?

If you were part of the competitive Smash scene, it didn’t take long before you could predict who was winning every tournament that year.

As always the devil is in the details here and it helps to know that Smash Brothers tournaments typically mean two players going up against each other in multiple rounds. This meant that generally ZeRo could afford a loss here and there as long as he bested his opponents in the end.

That being said, as part of this unthinkable winning streak, ZeRo did something remarkable at the EVO Championship in 2015 by never losing a single round. A record-setting attendance for the game of 1,926 entrants and ZeRo blitzed through the competition without a single mistake.

The tournament winning streak reigned from September 2015 to October 2016 and will never be replicated.
