10 Video Games That Were Always Doomed To Fail

8. Killer7

Japanese developer and publisher Capcom has let loose many weird and wonderful games onto the market in its thirty year run. However, none have matched up to the bizarre craziness featured in the action-adventure title Killer7. With abstract, cel-shaded graphics, an on rails control scheme and an impenetrably strange plot, Killer7 could have been an experiment on creating the least marketable game of all time. The game's creators seemingly had no interest in the financial side of things, even delaying the release solely due to an artistic decision to launch it on the 7th of July (7/7). One of the most divisive games ever released, reviews for Killer7 ranged from lauding the title as a work of artistic genius, to a boring, unplayable mess. Killer7 deserves credit for sticking to its artistic guns, but it managed to alienate North American and Japanese audiences alike. Even "auteur" director Goichi Suda (affectionately nicknamed Suda51) expressed disappointment at the game's poor sales, though he still considers it his proudest creation. Unfortunately, the rest of the world just wasn't in line with Suda51's artistic vision. Although Killer7 has since become a notorious cult classic, there was never a hope in hell that this silly title was going to make serious money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rhvLebx1iA
