10 Video Games Bosses That Do The Work For You

6. Saren - Mass Effect 1

Mass Effect
BioWare

As far as throwing the fight goes, Saren from Mass Effect 1 does it in a surprisingly graceful way. Instead of clumsily causing his own demise or letting the player win due to sheer laziness, he sacrifices himself to honor the player for making the right decisions throughout the game.

Saren is a Turian operative who was brainwashed by the Reapers' flagship, Sovereign, into becoming a tool in its mission of total annihilation. The Turian serves his master right until the bitter end, and your final confrontation with him is one of the tougher fights in the game.

However, if the player's Paragon level is high enough, meaning they acted selflessly and heroically throughout the story, they can convince Saren to disobey the Reaper. Despite being indoctrinated and implanted with Sovereign's cybernetics, he will start to question his loyalty and then decide to shoot himself to finally free himself from Sovereign's control.

This moment is honestly one of the most memorable parts of Mass Effect. Let's face it, it's not often that a game lets you talk the main villain of its story into killing himself.
