10 Video Games Ruined By Absolutely Terrible Controls
3. The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword
This might be a controversial inclusion on this list, but there are just too many people who absolutely hate Skyward Swords' controls to ignore it. Playing a Zelda game should be a fun, carefree experience, not a deeply frustrating one. And even people who liked the game's motion controls will have experienced this deep frustration once or twice.
Skyward Sword uses "Wii motion plus", an attempt at mapping 1:1 movement between the Wiimote in the player's hand and Link's sword. The problem is that this fundamental combat mechanic is extremely temperamental, at times working flawlessly (and in those moments feeling great) and at times waggling about all over the place.
With so many enemies designed to be dispatched in a specific way, then, this means it's possible to get stuck for long stretches of time or die repeatedly not of your own lack of skill, but because the game won't do what you want it to.
Even if you liked the game's controls, even Nintendo is admitting they weren't entirely successful by ditching the Wii motion plus controls in the upcoming Breath Of The Wild in favour of the standard sword-mapped-to-button system used in every 3D Zelda game previous.
