10 Video Games That Were Scored Way Too Highly On Release

10. Mass Effect 3

IGN: 95 Gamespot: 90 Eurogamer: 100 Before Watch Dogs took its crown as the go-to complainer's dream, Mass Effect 3 ruled the roost as one of the most disappointing titles of all time - birthing rants online from Youtube celebrities such as Angry Joe and Jeremy Jahns as forums across the board lit up with people feeling completely betrayed by a franchise they'd held dear for five solid years. And no, it's not just the ending that's at fault here - although that does play a huge part in providing one hell of a sour aftertaste - as it must be said if you can't stick the landing, many of us would say don't jump in the first place. From downgraded graphics with visual glitches to reduced dialogue options, poor pacing and forced dream sequences that went against thousands of peoples' custom character personalities, ME3 was an absolute mess that for the most part seemed to forgo a much-needed critical drubbing. Speaking of that ending though, one choice quote from Eurogamer's perfect 10/10 review is about as on-the-nose annoying as it gets when reflected back upon how much content was included in the DLC: "Despite all the DLC being thrown around, the basic game out of the box doesn't feel compromised in any way." Well, if you've seen the total shambles of an ending, or purchased the From Ashes DLC (that adds a character whose dialogue is essential to the wider universe), you'll know this to be completely incorrect. There are a few things contributing to why many gamers often turn to Youtube coverage in favour of 'real' journalist content these days, and this was one of the first times we really needed to see the bigger sites put this through an appropriate wringer.
