10 Video Games Sequels That Were EXACTLY The Same
2. Five Nights At Freddy's 2-5
Five Nights at Freddy's was the indie video game that popularized the idea of Let's Play channels. YouTubers would play the game, a basic horror enterprise that used limited space, resources, and lighting to achieve a tense, thriller-like atmosphere, and then react to the various jumpscares to humorous effect. At the time, nobody had any idea of how out of control things would get.
The game stood on its own, but then a sequel was released. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 was, for all intents and purposes, the same exact same game. As in it was almost literally the same game. The only measurable difference was the introduction of a new horror character and the removal of the doors, one of the main gameplay mechanics of the previous installment. In both cases, it was just a matter of waiting for the jumpscare and reacting accordingly with very little in the way of legitimate strategy or skill.
But that would not be the end of things. Five Nights at Freddy's 3 was released not long after and had the same story at the same location, though it was set thirty years in the future and had a few new mechanics. But that didn't keep it from, once again, being the same game that was previously released. This cycle would repeat two more times before the general public finally got fed up with Chuck E. Cheese knockoffs jumping around on their screens.
