10 Video Games So Disappointing You Rage Quit
4. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 was so bad that instead of reviving the skating genre, it nearly killed it off for good.
And to be fair, people certainly saw this coming. Marketing was quiet and what little was shown of the game was concerning. Complaints about THPS5's graphics were brushed off by the publisher, who chose to adopt a cel-shaded style to hide it's blemishes. It was no surprise that the finished version of the game screamed rush job but it was way worse than anyone anticipated. Nowhere was this clearer than the day-one 8GB patch which was essentially the entire game, as the disc only contained the tutorial and little else.
It stung for diehard fans as well as the general wider public. There were surely those who picked it up on name value alone. After all, branding it as the fifth game in the mainline Pro Skater series certainly grabbed the attention of those who had played the originals. Pro Skater 4 was nearly 15-years old itself by this point and prime for nostalgia.
Pro Skater 5 preyed on those good feelings; delivering a content-light, broken mess of a product. It's main "story" clocks in at around 3 hours, which was more than enough time to drive players away from what little else it presented.
