Bethesda, Valve and now Rockstar. All gaming heavyweights that have suffered the indignity associated with the struggles of game development. The intriguing case of Agent is that some of you may not know this game was ever in Rockstar's pipeline. It was set within the midst of the Cold War and focused on the espionage, assassinations and intelligence so often associated with this period of history. Setting itself within the stealth genre, it certainly steps away from the traditional Rockstar output of action-based gaming and it's a release that personally caught my eye when I first read about its existence way back in 2009. However, Agent has since been plagued by development issues, something particularly uncommon within Rockstar thanks to the vast array of resources they have at their disposal. While announced back in 2009 it wasnt until 2011 when a former Rockstar employee posted images within his gaming resume that the gaming community saw its first glimpses into what the game may look like. Sadly, the details were only left to four seemingly innocuous images that really didnt give much detail into the significance, scope or depth within the game.. Since then there has been very little concrete information about the progress of development. Occasionally at gaming expos an interviewer may have been able to snatch a quote or two about the games potential existence but since those images were leaked nothing has been shown of the game, leading some to believe that Rockstar had pulled the plug on the potentially lucrative title. However, one significant point to note is that in July 2013 distributor Take-Two registered two trademarks for the game, signifying that there may well be a game close to being shown to the gaming community. Agent does look an intriguing prospect for Rockstar and one that will naturally generate huge sales should it ever see the light of day. Personally, Im hoping we see this very soon indeed.
