Prey was a 2006 release basing itself within the sci-fi shooter genre. Developed by Human Head Studios and Venom Games, the game received positive reviews and was marked as one of the first quality games to come out for the Xbox 360. Shortly after the success of Prey, the game was immediately announced to have a sequel under development but naturally problems arose. The game was originally going to be developed by Human Head Studios again and targeted a release that would see the sequel released near the end of the Xbox 360/PS3 cycle. However, back in 2012 it was reported the sequel had in fact been cancelled with no word on where the remnants of Prey 2 would end up. Early in 2013 Prey 2 had apparently been left to Arkane Studios to salvage. Scrapping all of the work done by Human Head Studios, Arkane are hoping to release the game on next-gen hardware around 2016, 10 years after the release of the original. While a shame that so much work had been undertaken by Human Head to get the sequel of the ground, it is reassuring that the sequel will in fact see the light of day, wherever and whenever that may be.
