10 Video Games That Cost ALL YOUR FRIENDS
8. GoldenEye 007
To players of a certain generation, the N64’s GoldenEye remains the unchallenged GOAT where local multiplayer shooters are concerned.
It was largely credited with popularising the console FPS for good reason - its deathmatch mode was at once narcotically addictive and utterly rage-inducing.
Fun though it was to fill the Facility level’s toilets with mines and lie in wait, having to deal with less-scrupulous friends watching your screen made this decidedly less thrilling.
And then there was the white-hot anger wrought by anyone who dared pick the wildly overpowered Oddjob. In fact, “No Oddjob” is a rule which the collective gaming populace basically agreed upon in the late ‘90s.
And yet as routinely angry as GoldenEye made so many of us, it was nevertheless a game which kept us coming back for more every single weekend with our increasingly strained friendships in tow. Beautiful.
