10 Video Games That Didn't Deserve Their Amazing Soundtracks
6. Myth: History In The Making
Composer(s): Jeroen Tel
Myth – released in 1989 – is a mostly forgotten platformer in which players explore numerous environments throughout history, battling mythic creatures in order to collect magical orbs. Combat – while varied – is frustrating, requiring the player to input precise button combinations, and allowing a very small margin for error. In the game, objects can be collected in order to solve puzzles, but the objects themselves are vague, and the solutions unclear.
Regardless, the game is home to one of the most genuinely badass soundtracks in gaming history, an eclectic, fast-paced and assorted arrangement of amazing tracks, each more dissimilar than the last. In fact, the soundtrack’s so good it makes playing the game slightly less of a chore, which would seem an almost impossible task.
The two main themes are particularly noteworthy – those being “Disk Loader” and “Title Screen” – which deserve so much more recognition, as well as an entirely different game to showcase their gloriousness. It might be cruel, but Myth: History in the Making really doesn’t deserve these songs, and they’ve faded into obscurity purely by association.
