10 Video Games That Died (Then Came Back Stronger Than Ever)
2. Titanfall 2
Unlike many of the games on this list, quality was never a concern for Titanfall 2, which released to rave reviews for both its magnificently imaginative single-player campaign and superbly fluid, kinetic multiplayer suite.
But the FPS was nevertheless a victim of terrible timing, with EA making the extremely ill-advised decision to release it in a massively crowded window, where it faced stiff competition from three higher-profile shooter sequels - Gears of War 4, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and EA's own Battlefield 1.
As a result, Titanfall 2 initially flopped commercially, yet developer Respawn Entertainment nevertheless continued to support the game.
While countless think-pieces were posted in the years that followed hailing the game as an unsung masterpiece, it wasn't until 2020 that Titanfall 2 truly got its time in the sun.
With the game finally being released on Steam, it enjoyed a massive resurgence in popularity with concurrent player counts in the thousands, and even periodically topping 20,000+.
Better yet, earlier this year Respawn even fixed a long-standing server bug, ensuring that the Titanfall 2 experience has basically never been better than it is right now.
As for what would be the cherry on top of Titanfall 2's redemption story? EA finally announcing a third game in the series.
