10 Video Games That Don't Get The Love They Deserve
4. Splinter Cell: Blacklist
In terms of the Splinter Cell series, it has an absolute high in Chaos Theory and a low-ish point in Conviction (more so because it deviated from the formula too drastically). Yet when it comes to Blacklist, a lot of players felt the damage was done and it wasn't, basically, "Chaos Theory some more".
It also didn't help that Sam Fisher's voice actor was changed, because fans are fickle like that.
But when it boils down to it, Blacklist is actually a solid game that at least tried to modernise the stealth-action series. Many saw it as too bombastic, but if played properly, stealth was still a viable option. It just wasn't as slow and methodical as "the older ones", but has anyone played them recently? Take off those rose-tinted night goggles...
It also added a multi-directional approach to its side missions, changing up the linear gameplay somewhat. It also had a slew of exciting co-op missions, which are still available on local, split-screen multiplayer now.
It's a shame that gamers voted with their wallets, as it underperformed in Ubisoft's lofty expectations, effectively killing of Sam Fisher's solo career.
Let's hope the announcement Splinter Cell remake will rectify that...
