10 Video Games That Ignored PERFECT Endings

1. Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)

Okay, put down your pitchforks and pack away your hogties.

Known as one of the saddest deaths in gaming, the demise of Arthur Morgan is a scene that is burned into the hearts of everyone who has played Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2. Watching as this character you've grown to cherish accepts his fate and resigns himself to death, using his final breaths to watch the sunrise, is about as emotionally devastating as gaming can get.

Given the weight of this moment and the generally overloaded length of the game, it's hard not to look at this tragic scene as the perfect sendoff for this phenomenal Western. But it is not.

The epilogue to Red Dead 2, which keeps the game going for a minimum of another six hours, puts you into the boots of the first game's protagonist, John Marston. It is still a damn great gaming experience, but it robs this seminal sequel of an all but divine final note. While the official conclusion is still great, ending the game with Arthur's poignant death would have been downright perfect.
