10 Video Games That Knew What You Were Doing
5. Exploiting Resets Triggers A Meeting With Mr. Resetti - Animal Crossing
Beyond cheating there is exploiting a game's mechanics for your benefit, such as hitting the reset button after screwing something up, ensuring that your mistake isn't saved.
Quick-thinking fans of the earlier Animal Crossing games might've hit the reset button to undo a mistake, though Nintendo hilariously prepared for this and administered a most bizarre "punishment."
Players who hit reset without saving will eventually receive a visit from Mr. Resetti, a surly mole who will lecture the player on their behaviour, insisting that they save their game and not simply reset without saving their progress. Plus, the more you do it, the angrier he gets.
Some games in the series would force players to sit through a tedious, overlong rant from Resetti to try and discourage exploiting hard resets, and sometimes even throw up a fake reset screen in the hopes of scaring them into not doing it again.
