10 Video Games That Knew You'd Try To Break Them

3. Ratted Out By The P.A. - Theme Hospital

Games having a go at you for trying to break them is a tale as old as video games and whether we’re talking Prey in 2017 or twenty years earlier when Electronic Arts set Theme Hospital loose on the scene, you were going to get an earful for trying to worm your way out of playing properly.

The hospital sim had you trying to run a successful hospital, preferably without resorting to cheats, but if you did get a little sneaky and use them anyway, everyone would be alerted to your attempt to break the game.

Should you try to enter a cheat code an announcement will come over the hospital P.A. system telling everyone and their mother that you’re a rotten cheater. They’ll call out, “Warning! A cheat is running the hospital!” And you’ll have nowhere to hide your shame but in your piles of success and money. Or whatever it was you were cheating for.

I’ll let you decide if it was worth it but I’m guessing it probably was.
