In Fable, if you plant an acorn, that seed will grow - in real time - to become an oak tree as proof that this RPG champions authenticity and immersion. In fact, you can even have your own kids when you grow up, and those offspring will be of significant importance down the road...
Oh, that's right - those features never actually made it in to the final version of the game.
Damn you, Peter Molyneux. In truth, I don't give two figs that Fable failed to deliver on some of its grander promises. What still irks me to this day is that Fable - despite being a terrifically British, genuinely funny and enjoyable RPG - lacked in several departments.
Besides the fact that the game's main story feels more like a condensed highlights reel rather than an epic tale spanning decades, customisation was slim and enemy design was repetitive. Thankfully, Fable: The Lost Chapters is a thing, but even though that expansion remedied most of the above, it doesn't change the failings of the vanilla game.
It's a good job that Lionhead decided to include the whole lot in that rather good Anniversary Edition released a few years back.
