10 Video Games That Launched With A Severe Lack Of Content
2. Street Fighter V
Early access. Those two words were hastily thrown around the internet in reference to Street Fighter V at its launch, and were not entirely without justification. Booting up a full price game for the first time and perusing its pristine menu only to discover that several of the options simply say "This content will be available as part of a free update in March" is not what anyone wants to see.
The running argument between what is and isn't an acceptable amount of content to launch with, as far as this particular genre is concerned, has taken on two different perspectives. Hardcore players were largely indifferent to the almost complete lack of single-player content (there's a survival mode against the CPU and minute story chapters for each character), while the more casual players, the ones not interested in tournaments or competitive multiplayer, felt like they'd been hung out to dry.
Which is completely bizarre, considering Capcom stated that Street Fighter V was built with the intention to cater equally to all types of players.
Yes, Street Fighter V is fantastic - featuring some of the most satisfying fighting game mechanics ever - but it most definitely wasn't ready to come out when it did.
