There's nobody else in the entire world of gaming with a greater amount of gods among his body count than Kratos, the eponymous God of War.

The three original games sees Kratos virtually empty the entire Greek pantheon of its inhabitants, as violently as possible. And, given that ripping apart figures straight out of legend is the angry psycho's whole schtick, you just knew that Zeus, King of the Gods and Kratos's father, would be another one to bite it before the series' end.

When Kratos opens Pandora's Box, the fear and corruption inside is spread to the gods of Mount Olympus, and, in time, Zeus allows himself to be consumed by it entirely. Thanks to time travel, Kratos launches an assault on Olympus with the assistance of Gaia and the Titans, and although it takes a good couple of tries, pins down his father and stabs him with the Blade of Olympus.

Zeus isn't about to go down that easily, however, and his spirit traps Kratos in a realm of fear, which Kratos can only escape with the power of hope. The spirit is forced back into Zeus's body, and Kratos proceeds to beat seven bells out of the corrupted God-King.

It never pays to bet against a seasoned god-killer, no way how powerful you are. And Zeus found that out in the most brutal of ways.
