10 Video Games That Made Us Look Like Idiots

4. The Plastic Skateboard Peripheral - Tony Hawk: Ride

Though most of these games at least had the courtesy not to make you look like an idiot in the real world, that sadly isn't the case with the shambolic Tony Hawk: Ride.

Released in 2009 as a response to the series' dwindling popularity, Ride hit stores with a plastic skateboard peripheral in a blatant attempt to Guitar Hero-ify the beleaguered franchise.

While the concept itself wasn't inherently terrible, the execution certainly was, with Ride near-universally derided for its unresponsive peripheral and an accompanying game which failed to make inspired use of it.

Due to the responsiveness issues, even pulling off something as simple as an Ollie was a tricky feat, and so players were left awkwardly jumping up and down on the board rather than resembling their favourite pro skaters. Oof.

And to make players feel even more stupid, this thing cost a stonking $120 on launch. Unsurprisingly, it was a critical and commercial failure, and shortly after the follow-up Shred was released - which inexplicably re-used the peripheral - the franchise was put on ice.
