10 Video Games That Put Fans In Denial
6. Star Wars Battlefront
EA's reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise has seen fans desperately attempt to dissuade themselves of one simple fact - even more than most publishers, EA doesn't see you as anything more than a piece of meat that operates a wallet.
The 2015 Battlefront was rightly lauded for its show-stopping visuals and exciting multiplayer gameplay, but widely criticised for its lack of content - specifically a single-player campaign - mediocre customisation options and egregiously priced Season Pass content.
But because the gameplay fundamentals were fun, and because it was the first genuinely decent Star Wars game in years, many were happy to give it a pass, confident that the inevitable sequel would be a major improvement.
But alas, Battlefront II landed two years later to become one of the most controversial releases of the generation.
Beyond its utterly pedestrian, generic campaign, EA were thrown to the wolves for the game's insultingly unfair, microtransaction-encouraging progression system.
Though EA did pull the plug on their initial plan after word from critics got out, the damage was already done for many players.
And yet, when Battlefront III is inevitably announced, so many of those people who decried EA's money-grubbing tactics will be among the first in line to get their hands on the new entry.
Let's say it together: businesses aren't your friends.
